The Historical Advancement of The Crowne Inn and the Keys to Its Successful Business Essay

Describe the historical progression of The Crowne Inn. What has made the business successful? Harvey Johnston decided he wanted to own a bad back in 1952, after coming to this decision he quickly looked for someone to go into business with him. He asked his best friend, Leo Smith, who was the obvious answer due to the fact that he was experienced in the bar industry. Originally, the bar was structured with a S-corporation, located in downtown Kanas City Johnston owned half the stock. After being in business for seven years, Harvey decided to move the bar to the Northeast part of Kanas City this downtown area was less dangerous, with fewer competitors, and a better customer base. One of the first things that he did was add a large cooler that contained over 80 imported beers from all over the world (Allen, 2012). Popcorn machine, ads in the local newspaper, VCR, and a stereo system these ideas helped influence a change in the culture of the bar (blue-collar to the younger 25 40 age bracket). What made the business successful was not just one idea or one person but all of the efforts together progressed the bar to what it was. Harvey originally created a homey Old West theme to attract the working class, when the bar moved it had to evolve to stay open. So Karl came in with his energized personality and bolstered sales when Karl remarried and left, it was time for Bruce to step in. It was Bruces idea to sell roasted peanuts and imported beers on tap. They then bought video games, jukebox, a big screen TV, CD player, pinball machine, and lastly they started selling pickles.
