A Comparison between the Gummy Bear Candies of Haribo Company and Its Competitors Essay
Ive always been keen on gummy candies, as long as I can remember. Every time I am on a road trip, which happens very often every year, I search the store to grab a gummy bear snack at every pit stop we drive in to. Whether I am with my friends on a band trip, traveling with my sports team, or driving to a snowboarding winter trip with my family, Im always happily chewing on some gummy animal. Im a woman of tradition, Ive loved Haribo since as long as I can remember. And as is normal for me, I never thought about the health benefits or consequences, in the case of candy. Most candies are obviously bad for you, like most lollipops and hard candies, while others are still deceiving, mostly those that are from smaller companies that boast healthy alternative or sugar free or something like that. Ive never known Haribo to be unhealthy, but of course what do I know. This project forced me to do research on a candy I held dear to my heart, a snack that kept me company on roads expanding across the east coast. I compare the company Haribo, and more specifically the Happy Cola gummy branch, to companies like Hersheys, Mars, and other large-scale companies to determine if my candy habits are good or not. Haribo boasts being a family owned company, a company that makes (somewhat) healthy products, a company that is honest and public and stays true to itself without rivaling with other companies, and I can only wonder if they are actually everything they say they are.First comes first, the health issue. Its always important to consider calorie and sugar intake on a daily basis no matter what a person eats. To do that you have to consider how the candy itself is made, and the nutritional value on the packaging. A Happy Cola serving is worth 130kcal and 19g of sugar...
