The Benefits of Root Canal Vs. Tooth Extraction Essay

If you are having constant tooth pain you may need a tooth extraction. But first you should see an oral surgeon (they pull teeth, do implant surgery, among other mallow facial surgeries) or an endodontist (the root canal guy) and eventually if you do get a root canal or tooth pulled and have implant put in you'll need the final crown -- the root can now can cost anywhere from 800-1200 depending upon your endodontist. However, when you get the tooth pulled, there is a gaping hole in your mouth hopefully not in the front, and decide to go ahead with the costly figure of about 2000, not to mention the tooth pulling is anywhere from 3-400, you have to weigh all the benefits of the procedure, and costs. Root Canal vs. Tooth ExtractionMost people go ahead and get a root canal by their endodontist if they are having severe tooth pain that doesn't go away sometimes this irritated tooth will be seen on an X-ray or they can do a tap test of hot and cold with a dental stick, to determine the primary tooth or teeth that are your source of pain. Then after the root is drilled out (you will smell metal and a cinnamon scent when they do this its strange) the drilled area is patched up, then you have office visit to make sure everything's okay and then you have a crown fitting with your regular dentist. And a few weeks or shorter than that, you will have a crown cemented onto your stub of a tooth thats left. This seems like a simpler process than the pulling or tooth extraction, and then implant tooth surgery, then crown. But, to be brutally honest, if you can handle some pain and the costs involved, it is more cost-effective to have the tooth removed (less painful than root canal) and possibly you might not need an implant...
