An Assessment of the Effectiveness of an Italian Style Deli Essay

Josephine, Dina, and Angela decided to start a family company afterall three of them had a conversation about starting a family business. Theidea of a business seemed pretty good for both Dina and Angela. Dina neededa change of pace since she wasn't going to get anywhere else in her job.Angela had to leave her old job to help out with her family, but if thebusiness went well she could be with her family whenever she wanted andstill provide money. All three of them decided that they wanted to do anItalian style deli. They pooled whatever resources they had available,whether it is money or expertise on certain functions e.g. management. The company was very successful during the first year of service.Then, the company started experiencing a downturn in the second year ofservice. There were a number of things that caused the downturn, such asthe appearance of two competitors. The economy in the Denver area was goingthrough a downturn as well, so many potential customers were simply holdingonto their money. The three owners were all trying to come up with otherideas that they could implement to make business better, but they couldn'texactly pinpoint what they could or should do.Evaluation of Current Situation The situation does not seem very good for the company. The companyoverall has very good potential, but that potential isn't being fullyutilized. Here are some of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, andthreats the company faces. Strengths the company is unique because therearen't many Italian delis in the area. It also has very good products.Weaknesses the company isn't located in the best location and it lackedconvenience factors compared to its competitors e.g. not knowing the priceof a product until it was finished.
