An Analysis of the Strengths and Weaknesses of Big Brothers Big Sisters Essay

Using a SWOT analysis allows an organization to determine what their strengths and weaknesses within the organization as well as their opportunities for growth and forward movement as well as threats on the outside and how to gain more opportunities within their respective market. The texts sums that part of the internal assessment is conducting a SWOT analysis (Abraham, 2012). Having volunteered as well as knowing the director of our local chapter, all give me firsthand knowledge of this organization. Beginning with strengths and weaknesses and concluding with opportunities and threats, the writer will assess these areas concerning the organization and ways to find more opportunities.StrengthsBig Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) organization has been a vital part of the communities they serve for a very long time. Their biggest strengths are the volunteers and supporters of the program. Without the volunteers and the supporters there would be no program to run. Volunteers seeking to give back to their community are already bringing strength to the organization by being selfless and wanting to use their free time to help others. The volunteers are screened and paired with the most compatible child. According to the BBBS site the goal of the organization is to impact lives, stating Each time Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs a child with a role model, we start something incredible a one-to-one relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential (www.bbbs.org). What differentiates BBBS from other competitors is that there is no organization that compares to BBBS. There are similar programs, but BBBS goes much further by taking their program directly into schools to reach kids in all areas.
