Melrose OrganizationMelrose is a family fashion store and is operated by United Fashions of Texas, Ltd, founded in 1976 by the Bar-Yardin family who were immigrants from Israel. Melrose was founded in McAllen, Texas and originally specialized in womens clothing for juniors and clothes for adolescent women. The business first operated within the borders of Texas however, 40 years later they have branched from one store to over a hundred throughout Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and California. Throughout the stores lifespan, they have included plus-size fashion, successfully penetrating the retail market demographic. Recently, Melrose has launched a new clothing line that appeals to men, boys, and girls. Melroses founder and owners are Tzipora Bar-Yardin and Uri Bar-Yardin. Melrose also has a CEO, COO and two Vice Presidents. Vice President of Corporate Operations is Greg Darnell and Vice President of Human Resources is Cindy Vasquez (Melrose, 2016). Melrose employs over 1,500 full time employees nationwide and annually makes 171.8 million in revenue (United Fashions of Texas LLC, 2016). Twenty-two years later after the Bar-Yardin family created Melrose in McAllen Texas, they created United Fashions of Texas, LLC in San Antonio Texas. Their competitors consist of other retail stores such as Yannis Apparel, Rue 21 and Forever 21. Melrose holds a competitive advantage over their competitors by selling their products at low prices.Melrose Internal OperationEach district comprises of a District Manager for one or more locations. Each location is operated by one or several managers, an assistant manager, and several employees in charge of various departments within the store. At least one location within each district will also hold an Asset ProtectionLoss Prevention employee in charge of reviewing security concerns or reports of loststolen good. Each store employs at least four retail associates who are in charge of various departments. These departments include shoes, mensboys clothing, Juniors, Plus-size, and backroom stocking.
