A Comparison of Designer Retail Stores: TJMaxx vs. Nordstorm Rack Essay

TJMaxx Vs Nordstrom Rack The best kind of retail store is a store where you can find the best sales. Everyone seems to want to find designer accessories and designer clothing, however, nobody wants to pay the designer prices. TJMaxx and Nordstrom Rack are two designer discount retailers that hold the styles we want at the prices we can afford. The difference is that TJMaxx is a discount store and Nordstrom Rack is a discount store but also considered the outlet version of the Nordstrom department store. What both have in common is that they carry designer products that they then discount for the public comparatively to the cost of what it would be from designers. TJMaxx and Nordstrom Rack are both located in suburban areas and they would most likely have the same trading area. They are both also usually freestanding within a plaza with large parking lots. Theyre not usually found in shopping malls and are in areas with good traffic flow. Their target market is all ages and genders, but their biggest market is women. They carry women and mens clothing, accessories, home furnishings, shoes, exercise accessories (yoga mats, water bottles, etc.), beauty products, along with other merchandise. They also have a very similar layout. There is a womens section that is right at the beginning of the store when you walk in. That is the biggest section of the store. Off to the side are the accessories, mens department, and home furnishings such as bedding, chairs, tables, etc. Toward the back of the store are the shoes and there is a separate rack for clearance in every department. They are both, essentially, discount department stores. They are extremely similar to each other in most ways a retailer would be.
