An Analysis and Review of Freedom Walkers: The Story of the Montgomery Bus Boycott by Russell Freedman Essay

The author of this Freedom Walkers The Story of the Montgomery Bus Boycott is Russell Freedman. He has written pervious books about things that have happened in history like Children of the Great Depression, Kids at Work, and many more. The reader should listen to him because he has done a lot of studying about human rights and what some people has-had to go through. In Freedom Walkers The Story of the Montgomery Bus Boycott the stories are about how African Americans went through life with the bus segregation problem. Russell Freedman wrote this book to let students that are in school learn about the Civil Rights Movements and how activist went about trying to change all the rules African Americans disliked. A local activist in Freedom Walkers stated how the rules were in Montgomery that African Americans had to follow The color of your skin determined where you could sit on a public bus (Freedman, 1). The method of research used was the studies of history and teaching. Also he got some of his information from historical museums and interviewing with people who were apart of the boycott. The author main ideas were to inform how some activist did their job apart of the boycott, show how African Americans lived and how they were treated. If you happened to be a African American, you had to sit in the back of the bus, even if there were empty seats up front. (Freedman, 1) This book is basically about the tribes and tribulations of the segregated bus problem in Montgomery Alabama. African Americans and white people was not able to sit in the same sections on a public bus, the events of the bus boycott started may of 1954 and went through different dates of horror and disappointments, finally the boycott ended November 14,1956.
