Comparing and Contrasting Van Gogh\'s Painting and Gerald Locklin\'s Poem Essay

The artwork I will be discussing in my Paper is Vincent Van Goghs, Mulberry Tree the reason is because once I saw this masterful painting it made me think of a poem I once read, the Mulberry tree poem by Gerald Locklin. I will be comparing these two because they have so many striking similarities between them, that when you read Gerald Locklins poem, you get that Image of Van Goghs Mulberry tree throughout and that makes the poem so much more enjoyable and also brings the painting to life and that makes for a good essay.I will start off by describing the painting itself which is beautifully constructed and that is one reason it caught my eye so much. What I first saw in the painting is the way Van Gogh used a technique to make the painting seem like it was made up of a bunch of waves to form an image. He was also great in the aspect, that he used almost the whole canvas for the painting and that made it seem like the tree was popping out at you and then the way he used the bright colors for the leaves giving us the feel of autumn, it really just grabs the audience because it gives you such a relaxing feel when you look at it. Like many of Van Goghs paintings this was made up of oil paint, the oil paint is what actually gave Van Gogh those soft waves throughout his whole painting and that at the end gave us that peaceful feeling. To me this was actually a representational painting because he is showing us how the countryside would look in a peaceful setting and to me he really did get the job done because thats how everybody imagines the countryside being like.
