Analysis of The Incredibles Essay

The Incredible is a perfect movie to explain Joseph Campbells Hero Cycle. In the beginning of the movie the Incredibles Mr. Incredbile and Elastica girl as well as the other superheroes where the good guys. Whenever someone was in trouble the superheroes would stop what they were doing to save a suvilian. The first part of the Joseph Campbells hero cycle is the Innocent world of childhood. This relates to the Incredibles because in one of the sceens Mr. Incredible was trying to save a man that was committing sucide and IncrediBoy was trying to help. IncrediBoy claims himself to be Mr. Incredibles number on fan as well as his side kick. Him and Mr. Incredible have been in and encounter before where there was other fans of Mr. Incredible. This scene in the movie relates to the hero cycle because it is the Innocent World of childhood. IncrediBoy was not trying to do any harm to Mr. Incredible he was just trying to help. This lead to Mr. Incredible trying to save a man from commiting suicide and ended up hurting him when he saved him. The man that was trying to kill himself was angry that Mr. Incredible saved him because he did not want to be saved. The man ended up suing Mr. Incredible for the physical damage that was done to him. This started a snow ball effect, as other people starting suing superheroes. The people that used to be known for the heroic deeds they have done where know being shown as the bad guys. All of the superheroes had to be re-located and tryto live a normal life. Related back to the hero cycle this wopuld be the part called separation. Superheroes had to pretend to be something they were not and be separated from who they had been being for a long time. At this point in the movie fifteen years had passed....
