The Similarities and Differences in the Characters of Gilgamesh and Enkidu Essay

In the novel Gilgamesh, we see Gilgamesh with his friend, equal, and foil, Enkidu. Enkidu is a man who is very similar to Gilgamesh, created to be his equal. However, as a person, he was quite different from Gilgamesh. They fit very well together Enkidus strengths were Gilgameshs weaknesses, and Enkidus weaknesses were Gilgameshs strengths. Gilgamesh had harsh laws and methods with his people, and the gods sent Enkidu to tame Gilgamesh for the sake of his people. This was very successful. Gilgameshs other half and brother, Enkidu, helped him to see things rationally and more clearly, and vice versa. They each helped shape each others decisions, and together they were great people. These two similar people, when in contact with each other, accepted their similarities and differences, and used it to their own advantages.This idea is starkly contrasted with the ideas from the film Moon. In this film, we witness two identical people. They are clones of each other the only difference is their age in relation to how long the clones have been awake. These two individuals, although identical in terms of genetic and chemical make-up, are two very different people. This is because they have been exposed to each other and are communicating with one another. As a result, they start becoming different individuals based off their decisions of the other, simply because they want to distinguish themselves. This statement has been proven through extensive research into twins, and they found that identical twins are genetically and chemically the same. However, when they grow up together, they tend to be extremely similar, while when the twins grew up apart, they tended to be extremely similar in career and family. These two clones from Moon are not using each other and accepting their similarities, but instead trying to create differences.
