Carson Catalina Food for Pets and People Assistance Program ProposalDaryl G. Frazetti Purpose and Goal The purpose of this program will be to provide much needed complex community assistance to residents in need of food for themselves, their families, and their pets. Since Carson Catalina is a HUD approved complex, there are numerous low income individuals and families that reside in the complex. Many residents are disabled, elderly, young children of low income and disadvantaged families, or long term unemployed individuals with families. Many of the residents also maintain pets, some are necessary for the well being of a resident as evidenced by medical documentation. It is hoped that this program will be able to offer a small supportive assistance to such individuals, their families, and their pets. The goal of this program will be to establish a long term weekly pet and people food bank that can be accessed by those residents identified by management as having the greatest needs for assistance and who are also identified as having the need for such supplemental assistance above and beyond the Carson City local resources which can be extremely limited, particularly for pets. Layout of the Program There will be a resident volunteer staff that will arrange a regularly set day and time span to be open in the recreation room to assist those in need. There will be a check list of eligible individuals for either the pet program or the people program, or both as established by complex management. Participants will be required to show up only at the designated times and not more than 15 minutes prior to opening so as not to cause disruption to the main operations of the complex or to other complex residents.
