YouTube has become one of the most accessible ways to distribute video content to the world, and because of this it has become a great way to deliver information on almost anything. The content can be provided by anyone, from the average person to the largest of corporations. Searching key words on a topic will provide thousands of videos that have different ranges of credibility, entertainment, and also education. Through an in depth analysis of the content provided through the search of key words in the YouTube search engine it is possible to identify themes or the general consensus on a topic, if there is one at all. Aspects that can be analyzed to determine the themes and consensus of an issue are the total views, comments, creators, and title of the videos. An issue that can be examined through its YouTube key search is obesity, and through a simple search yields thousands of videos ranging from expert analysis to homemade opinion videos.The issue of obesity, especially in America, is a controversial topic that has a variety issues within it. Some issues brought up through the YouTube search of the word obesity are that of health concerns, who is to blame, obesity in America, and that obesity kills. All of which are very important issues, and are argued by content providers such as large entertainment companies, health associations, news stations, and individual content providers. The first theme can be seen before even watching the videos in the search, and taking notice of the titles of the videos does this. The words and phrases that become associated with the term obesity are epidemic, fast food, America, diabetes, poverty, childhood obesity, and weight loss.
