Dinner For Guests Receiving guests at ones house and preparing a dinner for them is a very busy process, especially for Russian people in America. To a Russian host or hostess it is absolutely unthinkable that their guests may be left hungry, so Russians usually serve a dinner with at least ten different dishes. Therefore, they spend a whole day or even two days preparing and cooking all these dishes for the dinner. Although every Russian hostess tries to make the choice of foods for her dinner as diverse as possible, the main dishes are usually the same. The menu of a regular dinner for guests consists of meat, snacks, salads, and drinks. By following the simple steps described below nobody will disappoint his or her guests or feel embarrassed because the dinner was not a success. There are so many ways to cook meat and accordingly there are many different meat dishes that it is just impossible to describe each and every one in detail. I would like to draw my readers attention to only one of possible meat dishes for a dinner. Lets take barbecue as an example. It is a very well known way of cooking meat around the world. Therefore, Russians often plan to have a barbecue when then invite guests to come to their places. Although cooking barbecue seems like an easy process, it is not always so. Russians know a great variety of recipes on how to condition meat before barbecuing it. Russian people may stay within the traditions of their culture and use vinegar or wine as the marinades for purposes of conditioning meat for barbecuing. Or, they could also use American methods of conditioning meat for barbecue by buying a ready-made marinade in a supermarket.
