The Miracle of Healing the Blind Man Bartimaeus Essay

In todays world many modern scientists are attempting to restore the sight of those who are blind through scientist and medical treatments. However, all attempts of to bring peoples vision have been short-lived and generally unsuccessful. People reject miracles today because they go against the idea of the reign of law. However, scripture tells us a different story. Scripture tells us that Jesus cured many people from blindness. One can read accounts of the healing of Bartimaeus and his friend in three of the gospels (Luke 1835-43 Matthew 2029-34 Mark 1046-52). The healing of blind Bartimaeus in Mark is the last of Jesus healings in Mark before His preparation of His death on the cross. Many may ask what is the meaning and significance of Jesus giving sight to Bartimaeus and his friend. The story of healing of Bartimaeus sight is significant to Jesus and His ministry here on earth, and has substantial value for us today as believers. The first suggestion made by scholars is that the blind men pleaded with the Lord as He entered Jericho (seen in the book of Mark and Luke), but they were not healed until the Lord left the city later (Mathew). Another common suggestion made is that since there were two Jerichos during this time (new and old city) the miracle could have taken place as the Lord left...
